Stairs are really helpful, they help you get up places at a gradual rate. But let me just enlighten y’all on this staircase here at training camp. There are these stairs that lead us down to the training center where we have sessions. The steps are uneven and the outer edges are wood but the middle area is gravel. I personally have tripped over these stairs and actually fallen 4 times so far. But I also see many people fall down the stairs and up the stairs…if that is a thing. When walking up the stairs they are inclined and slanted so they are just hard to walk up. Your thighs burn like fire and any breath in your lungs is gone by the 3rd step. I once tried running up the stairs which kinda failed miserably, I didn’t realize that the length of the steps isn’t even. Some of them are shorter than others and so I missed a step and hit my shin pretty good on it.
Now why am I talking about stairs? Yeah it isn’t the most interesting or important thing to talk about but honestly the stairs are really easy to complain about. I prefer normal stairs and these aren’t it. I want stairs that I expect and are easy. I think it is really easy to look at challenges in life like that. We know we will go through hardships but we want them to be what we expected and easier than expected too. But often periods of trials we go through are longer than we thought, we got up the first step but now the second one is further and we end up tripping and stop moving forward in our progress. We don’t want to go through the pain or the hard stuff that God is asking us to. We often go through little times like this a couple times until we finally choose to depend on God and make it to the top of the steps. We look at how hard it is and we forget to thank God for helping us get up the stairs and give us the opportunity to go up the stairs.
My squad got into a discussion about wisdom and knowledge one morning during devotional time. We came to the consensus that knowledge is knowing what the bible says and wisdom is going through trials and choosing to act the way we know is right based on our knowledge. Wisdom is knowing God’s plan is bigger than mine and it is so much better his way. Like let me say that again. It is so much better God’s way! It is good to ask why we are going through something but we often forget to look at what we are learning and how we are going to grow.
I think one thing training has really been teaching me is just how great God is. He is not only great, he is the definition of good and the definition of love. Like our God is for us, his plans might not be mine but they are so good. Yeah, it amazes me everytime God shows up in my life, cares for me, or listens to my heart when I can’t repay him back. Y’all our God is good, he is amazing, take a second to see his goodness. Thank him for the trials you are in right now. Seek his face and look for understanding, but be okay with just holding his hand as he walks you through it. If you don’t feel like he has your hand, look down and see if you are grasping the hand that is always reaching out to you.
love you so much girl! great way to look at things, you set such a great example for all of us, keep learning and having a great time.
love madi : )
This is a good lesson, particularly about the uneven stairs and the having to pay attention to each step. God is always walking us through something, up or down, hard or easy, surprising or expected. Thank you for reminding me of His hand reaching for mine on each step. I miss you, but I wouldn’t have you be anywhere else. ? Love much, much. Grandma
Take care and watch those steps. Thank you for the picture and your note. YOu have probably heard about your uncle Mitch needs bypass usrgery. I am going with him to his cardiologist appointment tomorrow just so he has a second set of ears when the Dr. is explaining things about the procedure. We will keep you informed. I love you. I’m very proud of you, and I know God is walking with you and you are walking with God. Love Grandpa
